TAHLEQUAH — Services for Robert M. Page will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Go Ye Retirement Village in Tahlequah.
Public viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 13, at the Hart Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturday morning from 8:30–10 a.m. at the Go Ye Village Chapel. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
On Wednesday, Jan. 11, at age 98, Robert (Bob) Marion Page went to be with the Lord he loved and served since his teen years. He was born July 22, 1913, to Homer Billings and Mattie (Lunger) Page in Soldier, Kan., the youngest of four children.
The family moved to Kansas City, Kan., when Robert was two years old. He attended school in Kansas City, including two years of junior college.
In 1932, through the youth group of his church, he met and began courting Helen Gibson. In 1934, they both enrolled in the Christian education course at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Upon graduation, Bob was ordained by Central Bible Hall in Kansas City. The couple were married Aug. 18, 1937, shortly after graduation.
In October of 1937, they moved to north–central Minnesota, where they began 52 years of ministry and raised four children. Bob served 41 years with the Oak Hills Fellowship, where he served as a pastor and business manager. He supervised the construction of three main buildings for the Oak Hills Bible Institute, which opened in 1946.
Always involved in his local community of Carr Lake, Bob served on numerous boards – school, township, telephone company – as well as the Bemidji youth center.
He was much appreciated for his pastor's heart and his thorough Bible teaching ministry. Between 1937 and 1964, he pastored seven churches, and in later years, served about eight other churches as interim pastor.
In 1989, Bob and Helen moved to Go Ye Retirement Village in Tahlequah, where for many years he continued to use his Bible teaching and visiting skills. For eight years, he also ministered at Boley Prison. He tended a garden through 2007, gladly sharing its produce with others.
In order to compensate for failing eyesight, he learned to use a computer at age 90. Bob and Helen attended the Evangelical Free Church as long as health permitted, then the Go Ye Village Chapel. The couple reached a milestone in August 2007, celebrating 70 happy years of marriage.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anita Welch and Bethel Adams; brother, Truman; their spouses; and his daughter-in-law, Pat Page. He is survived by his wife; children, James of Leavenworth, Kan., Sarah of Tahlequah, John and wife Barb of Longmont, Colo., and Ruth and husband Tom Eastling of Bemidji, Minn.; six grandchildren, Angie and husband, Dan Trowbridge, Glen Page, Pam Page, Todd and wife, Crystal Page, Brian and wife, Becky Eastling and Rebecca Eastling; 11 great–grandchildren, two neices, two nephews, and their spouses. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
