TAHLEQUAH — Park Hill – Funeral services for Kenneth Joe Lankford will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m., at the Reed-Culver Chapel, with Pastor George Whitekiller officiating. Interment will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home.

Kenneth Joe Lankford was born on Feb. 26, 1940, in Sasakwa, the son of James Theodore and Wealthy Lucille (Wilson) Lankford.

Kenneth was a man of many talents. He was a skilled barber, carpenter, musician and sailor. He served as a Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy and, most recently, as a resident coordinator for Cherokee County Nursing Home. He especially loved sail boats and ran his own sailing charter in Corpus Christi, Texas.

His life centered around his loving wife Lynn, whom he married on Dec. 22, 1984, in Tahlequah, and his loving children and grandchildren. He loved the water and enjoyed sailing, water skiing and painting. Kenneth loved people and went the extra mile to help those entrusted to his care.

Kenneth died on Friday, Nov. 25, in Park Hill. He was 71 years old. He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends and all the lives he has touched over the years.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nina Lankford.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lynn of the home; his sons, Daniel Joe Lankford and wife Wendy of Colorado Springs, Colo., Peter Desopo of Park Hill, Joseph Desopo and wife Stacy of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Santino Desopo and wife Laura of New Windsor, N.Y.; brothers, Bob Lankford and wife Luella of Tahlequah and Jack Lankford and wife Robbie of Tahlequah; and sister, Louise Kindred and husband Harry of Tahlequah. His legacy lives on in his nine grandchildren and one great–grandchild, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.

Those wishing to extend their sympathy to the family are asked to consider the Cherokee County Nursing Home in Tahlequah.
