TAHLEQUAH -- Funeral services for Pastor Billy Joe Jackson will be 10 a.m., Friday April 9, 2010, in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Ministers David White and Stanley Smith.

Serving as pallbearers are Charles, Samuel, Dustin, Billy, and Drew Jackson, and Jake Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Lloyd Kester, Jim Thomas, James Walters, Delbert Hougland, John Hougland, Lester Hougland, Bucky Hopkins, Ed Sarten and Leonard Walker. Interment will follow in Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at http://www.tahlequahfuneral.com/.

Billy Joe was born the son of William Robert and Maude (McCollum) Jackson on April 8, 1930 in Marble City. The Lord called him home on April 6, 2010, from Muskogee with his family by his side.

Growing up in Cherokee County, Billy Joe attended Owens Grade School at Park Hill, and was a graduate of Bagley High.

Billy Joe married Luettla Hougland in 1957 in Stilwell. In 1958, he entered the Air Force and served in communications until his discharge in 1954. In 1964, he entered the ministry. He pastored Keys Faith Mission before coming to Massena Holiness Church in 1984, where he was pastor until God called him home. Pastor Jackson also had a radio ministry lasting over a decade at KTLQ.

Billy Joe loved life, family, friends, and he loved the Lord. He treasured his grandchildren and would comfort them by playing with their fingers. He loved dedicating babies back to the Lord.

Billy Joe enjoyed riding mules. He loved living his life on his farm. Billy Joe had worked for the Tahlequah Police Department and walked a downtown beat.

Preceding Pastor Jackson in death are his parents; sister Wanda Westmoreland, and brother Robert "Robby" Jackson.

Cherishing his memory are his wife Luettla Jackson; sons Eddie Jackson and wife Shirley of Tahlequah, and Tommy Jackson and wife Denise of Hulbert; grandchildren Charley, Sam, B.J., Dustin, Jessica, and Drew; great-grandchildren Justin, Mason, Regan, Kevin, and Madison; brother John "Buster" Jackson; two nephews, a niece, and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
