TAHLEQUAH — Dr. Bobbie (Bob) Burnett Griffith died Sunday, April 8, 2012. He was 84 years of age.

Bob was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Robbins, near Tahlequah, to George Bradford and Mary Elizabeth Sturgis Griffith.

He graduated from Bagley High school in Tahlequah in 1945, earned his bachelor's degree in business education in 1953 from Northeastern State University, his master's in business education in 1955 from Oklahoma State University, and his doctorate in secondary business education in 1962 from the University of Nebraska.

He taught business education courses for over 30 years at various universities.

He was a Navy veteran and served as an aircraft mechanic from 1945–'48 in World War II, and from 1950-'52 in the Korean War.

Bob served as prescient, vice president, and as a member of the board of directors for the Stillwater Kiwanis Club. He was a member of Delta Pi Epsilon, Pi Omega Pi, Phi Beta Lambda and authored several business publications during his career.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed his lifelong hobby of playing golf, working part-time at a golf course after his retirement.

Bob is survived by two daughters, Debralee McCoy and husband Clayton McCoy of McLoud, and Lynette Griffith of Stillwater; two grandchildren, Jared McCoy and wife Andrea of Edmond, and Kristin McCoy of Oklahoma City; great-grandchild, Addison McCoy of Edmond; and sister, Valentine Jones of Forsyth, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, six sisters, one half-brother and one half-sister.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 12, at 2 p.m., at Tahlequah City Cemetery in Tahlequah. Funeral arrangements are under the direction Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah.
