Wilma "Polly" Green

Services for Wilma “Polly” Green will be Friday, July 20, at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Tahlequah, with Pastor Buddy Hunt officiating. Burial will take place at Tahlequah City Cemetery following the service, under the care of Green Country Funeral Home.

Visitation will be observed on Thursday, July 19, from 6–8 p.m., at Green Country Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include nephews, Rex Cochran, James Cochran, Brian Wagnon, Brad Wagnon, Don Cochran and Bill Cochran. Honorary pallbearers include grandsons, Brett Robertson, Traye Green, Wade Green and Doyle Green III; and great–grandchild, Jordan Green.

Polly was born on March 26, 1933, in Tahlequah, to Jess Bryan Cochran and Georgia Cochran. She passed away on July 16, 2010, at the age of 79.

She graduated from Central High School in Tahlequah in 1951. On Feb. 23, 1951, Polly married the love of her life, Doyle Green, in Tahlequah. Together they raised a family of one daughter and two sons. Polly was an educational systemwide secretary for Port Arthur Schools in Port Arthur, Texas, until her retirement in 1991.

Polly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. She was happiest when she was with her family who adored her. She was a strong, courageous and a loving Christian. Her grandchildren will fondly remember the many wonderful “moments” and “adventures” they had with their “Nana.” She loved her church family and spent many hours serving her Lord through missions, Bible School, Sunday school, and helping set up the church library.

Her friends were an important part of her life. She had many loving, caring and forever friends. She will be greatly missed by her family, church family and friends.

Polly is preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Georgia Cochran; her husband's parents, Clifford and Ida Green; sister and brother–in–law, Freda and Tom Powell; brother and sister–in–law, Dwight and Wanda Cochran; brother and sister–in–law, Bill and Donna Cochran.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Doyle Green Sr.; daughter and son–in–law, Pamela and James Robertson of Enterprise, Ala.; son and daughter–in–law, Doyle Jr. and Dana Green of Alma, Ark.; son and daughter–in–law, Joe and Martha Green of Tahlequah; sister and brother–in–law, Carolyn and Dennis Karinen of Union, Mo.; grandchildren, Brett Robertson of Tahlequah, Traye Green of Tahlequah, Wade Green of Alma, Ark., Jana Green of Tahlequah, Lindsey and husband Chris Lakars of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Tori and husband Paul Endres of Portland, Ore., Doyle Green III of Alma, Ark., Ashley Robertson of Enterprise, Ala., and great–grandchild, Jordan Green of Mangum, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends and loved ones.
