Funeral services for Melanie Dawn Burnett will be held on Thursday, September 19th, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Rob Pierce officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18th, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will take place at Tahlequah City Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.reedculver.com. Melanie Dawn Burnett was born on October 31st, 1980 in Tahlequah, OK the daughter of Ronnie and Bernice (Cornsilk-Barbaree) Burnett.

She attended school at Tahlequah High School. Melanie is remembered as a warm hearted woman who loved people. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially any dog or cat that wandered into the yard needing fed and loved. She possessed a smile that could light up the darkest corner. She had a talent for restoring furniture and could fix almost anything you placed in front of her. Give her an environment of any kind and a few raw resources and she,in turn, would give you a lovely environment. She loved her family dearly .

She was a loving and proud mother of her three boys, Taylor, Coty, and Emery. They were the light of her life and she adored them.

She was a talented photographer and used skill in capturing life's moments and beauty.

A Christian by faith, Melanie attended the Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Tahlequah, OK.

Her life was to be all too brief, and Melanie went home from her labors on Friday, September 13th, 2013 in Park Hill, OK. She was 32 years old. Melanie will be greatly missed by all those she loved and those who loved her.

Melanie is preceded in death by her brother, Brian Tankersley in 2012, her grandfather, Tom Burnett in 1999, grandparents Charley Cornsilk in 2009 and Myrtle Cornsilk in 1996, and one Aunt, Janie Adair in 2013. Those left to cherish her memory include her father, Ronnie Burnett and wife Pam of Stilwell, OK, her mother, Bernice Cornsilk-Barbaree and husband Larry of Tahlequah, OK, and her boyfriend, Charles McDonald of Park Hill, OK. She leaves three sons, Taylor Grant Wood of Rogers, AR, Coty Hayes of Tahlequah, OK, and Emery Bryan McDonald of Park Hill, OK. Her brothers and sisters include Larry Barbaree of Tahlequah, Channing Summers of Tahlequah, Peggy Barbaree of Tahlequah, OK, Candy Barbaree of Tahlequah, Dylan Gene Burnett of Stilwell, OK, and Cody James Burnett of Stilwell, OK. Her grandparents include Dorothy Barbaree of Broken Arrow, OK and Glynda Camp and husband Cliff of Stilwell, OK. She leaves two aunts, Vicki Carter of Tahlequah, OK and LaDonna Bruner of Stilwell, OK as well as many cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.
