Billye Sue Richardson was born on May 4, 1941, in Liberal, Kan., the daughter of William and Eva Mae (Statton) Latham.
She graduated from Hugoton High School in Hugoton, Kan. She married the love of her life, Jimmie Richardson on July 22, 1958, at her parents' home in Liberal.
This union was blessed with one daughter, one son, and 53 years of marriage.
Billye was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She worked as a bookkeeper for Spikes Inc. and Beesley and Sons. Her best job in life was ranching with her husband Jimmie and raising her family.
She was a member of the Women's Federated Club, a 4-H leader, and a Girl Scout leader.
She was a wonderful cook and her family and friends remember the wonderful aroma of her cinnamon rolls and her homemade ice cream. She was a gifted gardener and raised beautiful flowers. She was as adept at ranching and raising cattle as she was at sewing and crocheting.
Billye and Jimmie ran cattle through Kansas, the eastern slope of Colorado and New Mexico. Billye had a quick smile and a personality that made friends easily, she made everyone feel welcome in her home.
A Methodist by faith, Billye was called home from her labors on Feb. 14 at her home in Pumpkin Hollow. Billye was 70 years old. She will be greatly missed for her laughter and her beautiful personality.
Billye is preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Peyton James Whitham in 1994; one son-in-law, Jeffrey Whitham in 2009; and one brother-in-law, Harold Workman.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jimmie, of the home in Pumpkin Hollow. Her two loving children include Kimberley S. Richardson-Whitham of Proctor, and Marty Richardson, also of Proctor. Her two surviving sisters include Sharon Kay Workman of Oklahoma City and Linda D. and husband Larry Jones of Broken Arrow. Her legacy lives on in her two grandchildren, Clayton C. Whitham of Ulysses, Kan., and Martyn W. Whitham and wife Mary of Pensacola, Fla., and one very special great-grandson, Elliott Craig Whitham, along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.
