Rhame Paul Wood, 89, was born Sept. 17, 1925 in Okemah, OK to William Paul and Marette Aetna (Rhame) Wood. He passed from this life on Mar. 3, 2015 in Tulsa, OK.

Rhame attended school in Okemah and in December, 1942 entered the Oklahoma Military Academy. In December, 1943, he joined the United States Navy and served until the spring of 1946. He spent most of his service time in the South Pacific. Upon discharge from the Navy, he attended East Central University in Ada, OK.

In the fall of 1947, he entered dental school at The University of Kansas City School of Dentistry in Kansas City, MO. Upon graduation in 1951, he entered private practice in Nowata, OK. In 1962 the family moved to Bartlesville, OK. Dr. Wood continued to practice in Bartlesville until his retirement in 1991.

He was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville and served as Chairman of the Building Committee for many years. Rhame was also a member of the American Dental Assoc. and the Oklahoma Dental Assoc. serving in various leadership roles. He served three terms as a Dental Examiner and served as President. He married Betty Ruth on July 1, 2005.

Rhame was preceded in death by his parents and 1 granddaughter: Shelby Kidwell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Ann Wood, of the home, 4 children: Dr. Carol Caraway of Indiana, PA, Mark Wood of Los Angeles, CA, Rhande Wood of Weatherford, TX & Dr. Khem Wood of Miami, OK. 2 step-children: Jesse Ruth and Angela Ruth, 1 brother: Joe T. Wood of Anchorage, AK, 1 sister: Mary June Cashman of Okemah, OK, 3 grandchildren: Robert Wood, Leigh Wood & William Wood and 2 step-grandchildren: Taylor Ruth and Kyle Kidwell.

Visitation hours will be from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Mar. 5 in the Leonard & Marker Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, Mar. 6 in the Leonard & Marker Chapel officiated by Dr. William C. Cook. Interment services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday in the Parkhill Cemetery of Tahlequah, OK.
