PROCTOR -- Services for Arnold H. James will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Hart Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow services at Park Hill Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the care of the Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah.

Arnold H. James, 86, joined our heavenly father on April 9, 2010. Arnold was born May 12, 1923 to Alfred and Vertie James in Tahlequah. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1945.

He had two sons with his first wife, Margie, and later moved to Campbell's Island in East Moline, Ill., where he started a new life and began working at John Deere Plow and Planter for 31 years until his retirement in 1977. During this time, he and his wife Mary lived in Coal Valley, Ill., with their 10 children. He later married Rose Nupp and they returned to Proctor, where she passed away in 1981.

Our father was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener and loved mushroom hunting. He also loved a good game of pool and a few beers with his friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Proctor, where he had many friends to socialize with.

He is survived by his sons, Gerald James of Oklahoma, James James and his long-time companion Jerry Rehoff of Buena Park, Calif.; John (Kay) James, Moline, Ill.: Arnold S. James, Rock Island, Ill.; daughter, Linda (Ron) Hopp of Moline, Ill.; Melissa (Roy) Garza, Moline, Ill.; Dru James, Bettendorf, Iowa; Edna (Richard) Buettner, Bettendorf, Iowa; 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Aurdverl (Mary) James, Muskogee; Eugene (Ludeen) James of Leesburg, Fla.; Elsie (Buddy) Stubbs, Fort Gibson; and Carrah (Bonnie) James of Milan, Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jimmy James; sister-in-law, Edna James; two sons, Cody James and Tony James; and a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Robert Surman.

Condolences may be made online to buettnerichard@yahoo.com. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Proctor in his memory.
