Sept. 21, 1939 - Jan. 18, 2005Visitation for Mary Evelyn Turney will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles St.) on Thursday, January 20, 2005 from 5 - 9 p.m. and a graveside funeral service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery (River Blvd.) on Friday, January 21, 2005 at 1 p.m.
Mary was born to David Ray and Katie Kathryn Adams on September 21, 1939 in Hulbert, OK. She moved to Bakersfield as a child and was raised by her grandmother, Nancy Evelyn Collins. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, David and Kathryn Adams; her grandmother, Evelyn Collins; her sons, Sam and Floyd Tucker; and her brother, Butch Adams. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Herman Turney; son, Bobby and wife, Deborah Turney; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bo Earnshaw; the niece and nephew she raised, Lynn Smith and Donald Adams; grandchildren, Bobby Wayne, Heather, Chase, and Victoria Turney and Lil Bo and Kimee Earnshaw; along with TOO many other much-loved relatives and friends to name.
Mary loved so many things in life. Her years of being a dispatcher with Search and Rescue, her years in Re-act, her many years of business ownership of H & M Enterprises, The Knotty Pine Café and her years of bookkeeping at A-1 Multi Business. All the way down to the finer things in life such as Racing, Fishing, Cooking, and spending quality time with her family. Mary will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know and love her. Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Turney and “Lil” Bo Earnshaw. Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Turney, Bobby Rawlins, Chase Turney, Cecil Wilson, Lloyd Moore, Jimmy Adams, Kyle Turney, and Bobby Wayne Turney.
