Tahlequah---Memorial services for Lillian C Slagle, 79, of Tahlequah, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at the Elks Lodge with Mr. Reed Slaglel officiatingLillian C Slagle, daughter of George and Tina (Mattingly) Carmichael, was born Dec. 24, 1922 in Alton, Ill. and died Friday March 29, 2002 in Tahlequah.
After graduating from East St Louis High School in 1940, she received her nursing degree from Christian Welfare Hospital School of Nursing. While serving as a nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II, Lillian married Lloyd T Slag, Jan. 11, 1947, in Wesermunde, Germany, near where both of them were stationed.
After returning home, Lillian worked as a nurse at the Claremore Indian Hospital. She later moved with Lloyd to Tahlequah, where she earned her degree as a speech therapist and worked for the State of Oklahoma with children from rural schools in the Tahlequah area. Since retiring in 1989, Lillian has lived in Tahlequah. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Lillian is survived by her husband, Lloyd, of Tahlequah; two daughters, Patti A Slagle of Louisville, Ky. and Jan E Ishmael of Glenpool; Adam and Christian Slagle of Sugarland; two brothers, Bryon Carmichael of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Bill Carmichael of Jefferson City, Mo., as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
