Tahlequah--Funeral services for Judy Delores Scott, of Tahlequah will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002 , at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Bunch Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Hooper, Darin Hooper, Mark Hooper and Brandon Ketcher.

Judy Delores Scott, daughter of the late Jim T. and Judy (McCoy) Mays was born May 13, 1920 in Barbourville, Ky., and departed this life on Sunday, April 28, 2002, in Tahlequah, after reaching the age of 81.

Delores' family has tried to iden tify the happiest period of her life, but that was a tough question. She had such a cheerful and positive nature, one would think she enjoyed most of her life.

Delores grew up in Bunch and the Lyon's Switch community just outside of Stillwell. She graduated from Union Grade High School at Cave Springs and went to nursing school at Sparks Memorial in Fort Smith, Ark.

Her nursing career was sidetracked when she married Clyde Scott, a young man from Hungry Mountain.

The story goes that they met on the sunny banks of Barren Fork Creek while at a swimming party.

Like many others before them, Clyde and Delores moved to Riverbank, Calif., to find work, housing and a good education for their children.

Delores worked at Petri Winery before finally agreeing to moving back to the Lyons community.

They also lived at Gideon and Caney Creek before settling in Boone Addition of Tahlequah.

During this time, they were rearing their children; Beverly Hooper of Park Hill, Bob Scott of Fayetteville, Tenn. and Janice Stevens of Muskogee.

Delores supervised the labeling department at Ozark Nurseries and helped established the same at Midwestern Nurseries.

In her retirement, she worked with young people in the Foster Grandparent Program and was an active member of the Grace Baptist Church.

Delores enjoyed visiting homebound patients, flower gardening and cooking for her appreciative grandchildren.

Delores was loved by many and will be greatly missed by those who knew her easy laugh and loving heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gil Finn Mays and John C Mays, both of Stillwell; and three sisters, Grace Sunday of Tahlequah, Angeline Jetton of Salina, and Fanny Christie Eads of Tahlequah.

Delores is survived by her children; two sisters, Cora Mays of Stillwell and Polly Cone of Bunch; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many loved ones and friends.
