Glen F. McFerrin, 86, of Tahlequah, passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who meant the most to him, to go home to the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in Tulsa.

A celebration of his life services will be held at Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah, at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. A burial is to follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 1 p.m., under the care of Green Country Funeral Home.

Glen grew up in Arkansas until he entered the Army at age eighteen. He was proud to have served his country. Upon his return, he met and married Wahlelle in 1949. They moved to Hughson, Calif., where they raised their family and made many memories with their children and grandchildren. In 1992 they returned to Arkansas and then moved to Tahlequah. Glen enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, making his daily stop at Boomerang to visit with his coffee-friends, and taking trips back to California to spend time with his great-grandchildren. His life touched so many, he was dearly loved, and he will never be forgotten.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Bayard and Gladys McFerrin of Harrison, Ark.; and his sister, Betty McCurry of Tracy, California.

Glen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wahlelle McFerrin; his two loving children, Rita Robinson of Hughson, Calif., and David McFerrin of Tahlequah. He also leaves behind two granddaughters, Heather Oliveira of Modesto, Calif., and Andrea VanSleet of Sonora, Calif. Glen was also blessed to have five great-grandchildren, Reggie, Bethany, Reagan, Mason and Jackson. Glen is also survived by his two sisters, Irma Sparks of Locust Grove, Ark., and Loretta Kelly of Winslow, Ark.; his brother in law, Clevel Smith of Tahlequah; many nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
