Billie Jean “Granny” (Bisbee) Littlefield

Billie Jean “Granny” (Bisbee) Littlefield
July 18, 1935 ~ October 5, 2024

Billie Jean “Granny” (Bisbee) Littlefield, 89, of Rose, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Rose, Oklahoma on July 18, 1935, to W.A. “Buck” and Maudie (Hanna) Bisbee, Billie Jean was the only child of her family and the last remaining in a long line of beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law.

With the exception of six months, Billie Jean lived her entire life within two miles of her birthplace in Rose, Oklahoma, where she also attended school. On February 20, 1950, she married G.V. Littlefield, Jr. in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Together, they raised two sons, Bob and Ted. Billie Jean and G.V. shared nearly 50 years of marriage until his passing on February 8, 2000.

Known to many as “Granny,” Billie Jean was cherished for her warmth, generosity, and strong work ethic. She worked diligently throughout her life, holding positions at Cherokee Togs, Safeway, and eventually retiring as a meat wrapper for Homeland in Pryor in the late 1990s.

Granny’s love for her home by the creek in Rose was well-known. She treasured quiet times on her porch, sipping coffee, and watching her beloved “hummies”. Her home was adorned with ruby red bells and glassware, a testament to her love for collecting. Gardening was a favorite pastime, and her summer flowers were always a source of pride.

Being a part of Smith Chapel Free Will Baptist Church for many years, Granny embodied the spirit of service, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her kitchen was a place of comfort for many, where she made the best Christmas candy, banana nut bread, and her famous peanut butter pie. She attributed her good health to her daily intake of Peter Pan Peanut Butter, a habit she swore by.

Family was at the heart of Billie Jean’s life. She was a selfless mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, often sacrificing her own needs for the sake of others. Her words of wisdom, frequently laced with humor, were cherished by all who knew her. Granny loved deeply, lived joyfully, and was adored by many.

Billie Jean is survived by: 2 sons: Bob Littlefield and wife Cindy of Moore, Oklahoma, and Ted Littlefield and wife Carolyn of Nowata, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren: Ted Littlefield, Mark Littlefield and wife Heather, Sarah Coday and husband Mark, Melissa Littlefield, and Sam Littlefield and wife Amber; 6 great grandchildren: John Coday, Jade Littlefield, Jasmine Stoneburner, Owen Littlefield, Blake Littlefield, Lila Jean and Chandler; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, best friend and cousin: Gearl Dene Cunningham, 1 granddaughter: Michal Elizabeth Littlefield, and her beloved pug: Maggie.

A celebration of Billie Jean’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Smith Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Rose, Oklahoma. Reverend Doug Parker and Pastor Mark Coday will officiate. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery in Peggs, Oklahoma. Services are entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
