Viola Fletcher

Aug. 3, 1928 ~ April 28, 2012

Viola Fletcher, Salina resident, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at her home. She was 83 years of age.

Services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, at the Peggs Community Church with the Rev. Hendrickson officiating. Interment will follow in the New Home Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Viola Fletcher was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Bass, Ark., the daughter of Noah and Laura (Yates) Foster. She graduated from high school in Haskell. On June 20, 1946, Viola was married to Johnie J. Fletcher in Muskogee. She worked as manager of the first Crown Drug store in Tulsa. She later owned her own restaurant, Fletcher's Dairy Mart in Prauge, and was restaurant manager for the Pete's Drive-In in Pryor and Mr. B's in Chouteau.

Survivors include five children, Johnie Bryant Fletcher, Shirley Jean Welch, Marsha Wagnon, Rebecca Kay Stevens and Laura Ann Fletcher; 17 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; sister, Rosetta McCorkle; brother, Lester Foster; and son, James Doyle Fletcher.
