Geneva Sue (Dotson) Brixey

Geneva Sue (Dotson) Brixey
May 21, 1942 ~ December 10, 2025

Geneva Sue Dotson Brixey, beloved wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many was born on May 21,1942 in the Flat Rock area, Wagoner County to Diana Kay Pumpkin.

She passed into her heavenly home and into the arms of her Lord on 12/10/2025, at the age of 83 years, surrounded by family. While we all were not ready for her departure, we have solace in knowing that she is pain-free and rejoicing with all that have gone before her, especially. grandson, Dustin Brixey.

Geneva was a strong determined woman. Unfortunately, her perseverance began as a child.

Her mother abandoned her. Her grandmother, a full-blooded Cherokee, Annie Tadpole Pumpkin, gave her a loving home. It was here, surrounded by full-blooded Cherokee speaking family members, that she learned to speak Cherokee. She was given the love and nurturing of her grandmother, aunts, uncles and a special Aunt Leona Randolph.

Geneva grew up in the Flat Rock area. She attended Flat Rock and Mazie schools. She finished the 9th grade at Chouteau High School. Although she never graduated or received a high school diploma, Geneva was an achiever; a person that liked to stay busy. She worked at Gould Industries in Pryor until around 1974, when the company relocated. She worked alongside her husband, Laddie, at Brixey Dairy from 1978 - 1996. Realizing that she had too much idle time, she began work at Mazzios in Locust Grove in 1998. She continued there until a hip injury "slowed her down". She finally retired from there after 24 years of faithful service.

She met the love of her life, Laddie Lane Brixey in Wagoner, Oklahoma and was united in marriage on 11/21/1958 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Together many memories were made. Geneva waited on Laddie hand and foot, always ensuring that he was taken care of. She had a belief, "when I married it was for my lifetime". Geneva and Laddie shared their 67th anniversary at Hillcrest Hospital with Laddie at her bedside.

Geneva had many enjoyments. She loved being outdoors, feeding her hummingbirds and taking care of her flowers. She was the best cook. She was always looking for a new recipe to try. When she was younger, anyone could find her in the hay field, baling, raking or hauling hay.

If something needed to be done around the farm she usually did it herself. No matter how busy or sick she was, her one priority was getting her hair styled every week.

Geneva was the glue to the family. She was a lady that spoke her mind. We all knew that no matter what the circumstances may have been; the one person that any of us could turn to was our "mom/grandmother". She left behind a void in the hearts of all that knew her. May you rest In Peace.

Geneva is survived by her husband, Laddie, of the home; 5 children, Brenda Elaine Harris, husband Earl Wayne of Locust Grove Oklahoma; Davy "David" Joe Brixey, wife Terri of Peggs Oklahoma; Gerald Lee Brixey, wife Georgia of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Bonnie Sue Fisher, husband Todd of Peggs, Oklahoma and Shellie Kay Shankle of Peggs Oklahoma, Mike Shankle of Tahlequah.

Her legacy lives on in grandchildren, Nathan Harris of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Krystal Fisher of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Tamra Miller, husband Jonathan of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Jessica Brown, husband Colte of Chelsea, Oklahoma; Dustin Brixey; Sabra Harris of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Travis Fisher, wife Kaylee of Mounds, Oklahoma; Jeremy Brixey, wife Jamie of Peggs, Oklahoma; Traci Couch, husband Keith of Chouteau, Oklahoma; Tori Johnson, husband Boone of Peggs, Oklahoma; Taylor Brixey, Ronnie Greenhaw of Miami, Oklahoma;

Kaylie Shankle and Kaden Shankle of Peggs, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Haleigh Brown, Jaycie Brown, Ada Brixey, Coleman Brixey, Xander Greenhaw, Xadee Greenhaw, Kaisley Shankle, and Aubrey Couch.

Others left to mourn include a niece, five nephews, extended family members and numerous friends.

Geneva is preceded in death by her mother, Diana Pumpkin; father, Samuel Dotson; mother and father-in-law, Novella and Ed Brixey; sister-in-law, Diane Brixey; brother-in-laws, Charles and Gary Brixey; and grandson, Dustin Brixey.
