U.S. Veteran William Thomas Harris, son of William Edward Harris and Barbara Oleta (Gray) Harris, was born on March 31, 1952 in Westville, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the age of 60 years, 4 months and 7 days.

William, also Tom or Willy as he was known to many, excelled intellectually and & musically in every endeavor. After leaving the U.S. Air Force, he spent time working hard & pursuing a career with some of his best friends. He continued to have a passion for music much of his life, but his daily work was as a diesel mechanic – a profession that, over the course of his life, would leave his body partially physically broken.

Tom always loved his family and was very proud of each of his children. As his health began to fail, his faith began to increase. In the last months of his life, he became God's new creation – a soft-hearted, precious, self-proclaimed “friend of Jesus”. The sound of his laughter, the chest pockets on his shirt, his love of the hottest days of summer and quiet time in nature – these will forever remind us of him. His faith and demeanor in the darkest of days will forever remind us that we, in Christ, will see him renewed in eternity someday.

Preceding him in death was his father: William Edward Harris and his brother: Raymond Edward Harris.

Those remaining to keep his memory are his children: Matthew Harris and wife Molly of Seattle, WA, Ben Harris and wife Courtney of Columbus, OH, Melody Barker and husband Gene of Durant, OK, Joe Harris and Lauren Harris, both of Kansas, OK, mother: Barbara Oleta Harris of Stilwell, grandchildren: Wilder Harris and Emerson Harris of Seattle, WA, Alzada Harris of Columbus, OH, Cole and Casey Barker of Durant, siblings: Oleta Lyons and husband Burl of Gentry, AR, Margaret Phipps of Westville, OK, Ruth Carlson of Boise, ID, Marjorie Fox and husband Arthur of Lincoln, AR, Richard Harris and wife Pat of Broken Arrow, OK, Minnie Convirs and husband Dean, Wanda Moorehead, Shirley Latta and husband Anthony, Fred Harris and wife Diana, Loyd Harris and wife Lynne, Corinna Vanderheiden and husband Dean, Colleen Brown and husband Allen, Buddy Harris and wife Meda, all of Stilwell. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10 am on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Max Ford officiating. Interment followed at Molly Field Cemetery.
