Tahlequah, OK~ Funeral Services for Vernie Samuel Luna will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 26, 2013 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Ann Jordan officiating. Visitation will be Monday March 25, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Hart Funeral Home. Vernie Samuel Luna the son of William T. and Lucille (York) Luna was born on July 26, 1936 in Cherokee County and departed this life to be with the Lord on March 22, 2013 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 24 days. Vernie was a member of the First Christian Church in Tahlequah. He loved life and was a hard worker. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local for over 53 years and was a Mason for over 40 years. He loved life and loved his family. Vernie touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ben J. Burgess. He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Joyce of the home; his children Vernie Steven Luna, Elizabeth Anne (Libby) Osburn and husband Terry; and Mark Anthony Luna and Tracy Raper; sisters Wilma Jean Kilpatrick and husband Thomas of Anacoca, LA, Mary Ann Smith of Wagoner, Golda Greenaway of Wagoner, and Sue Busby of Minneapolis; brother William Luna and wife Sue of Wagoner; grandchildren T.J. Osburn, Steven A. Luna, Katie M. Luna, Joyce Luna Ellis and Jarod Luna and 6 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loved ones also survive him.
