Funeral services for Bertha Faye Teague are 10:00 am, Friday, March 21, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Tahlequah. Officiating will be Brother Bobby Botts. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons, Steve Grim, Jake Teague, Chance Buhl, Antonio Dominguez, Michael Cates, and Brandon Hayes. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Ray Rogers, Raymond Daniels, Wesley Kilpatrick, Bobby Disheroon and Mike Turney. Interment will follow in the Hulbert City Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.
Faye Teague, age 74, of Hulbert, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on the evening of March 17, 2014, with her family by her side.
She was born in Chelsea, Oklahoma, on April 27, 1939, to her mother Maxine Miller. She graduated from Chelsea High School in 1957. She went on to receive a bachelor's degree and master's degree in Education from Northeastern State University and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1994. She married the love of her life, Jack Teague, on December 24, 1959. From this union they had two girls, Sandra and Gloria.
Faye spent the first half of her career as an English teacher at Hulbert High School. Once she retired from teaching, she returned to law school and went on to be an Assistant District Attorney and later worked toprotect children and the elderly through the court system. Her passion in life was spending time with her family and raising her eight grandkids and one great-granddaughter. The many kids that were in and out of the house throughout the years knew her as Mams. She and Jack enjoyed spending Sundays driving to Tulsa and traveling around the country when they had the opportunity. Her favorite pastimes, besides being with her family, were listening to Elvis, collecting Elvis memorabilia and taking her annual trip to Graceland.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Miller; grandmother, Bertha Secondine, and nephew, Buckshot Hunt.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Teague of the home; two daughters, Sandra Hayes and husband Tony Hayes of Hulbert, OK; Gloria Grim and husband Charles Grim of Hulbert, OK; eight grandchildren, Brandon Hayes and wife Jana Hayes of Fort Gibson, DeAndra (Lu) Hayes and fiancé Michael Cates of Hulbert, OK, Danna Hayes and husband Antonio Dominguez of Hulbert, OK, Jake Teague of Hulbert, OK, Chance Buhl of Hulbert, OK, Nick Grim of Hulbert, OK, Steven Grim of Hulbert, OK and Kristen Grim of Tulsa, OK. She also has one great-grandchild, Brynn Dominguez and a great-grandson on the way. She has one sister, Jill Miller of Chelsea, OK; three brothers, John Hunt and Karen Hunt of Kailua, HI, Robert and Brenda Hunt of Chelsea, OK, and Ted Hunt of Chelsea; and special friend Sheri Winn of Chelsea, OK. She has numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will miss her.
