Jimmy Don Thurber was born on Feb. 28, 1960, in Stilwell, the son of Leonard and Betty (Woods) Thurber. He graduated from Cave Springs School. Jimmy was a farmer by profession, and any day spent outdoors was a good day. Jimmy was a world champion coon hunter, and excelled in training all breeds of dogs for competitions. He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Elmer Thurber, Ira Woods, and Mabel Bowls; and his first wife, Joann Gatewood-Thurber.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son and daughters, April Webb and husband, Billy, of Stilwell, Amber Smith of Okay, and Wyatt Thurber of Okay.
