TAHLEQUAH -- Graveside services for Katie M. Price will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 26, 2010, at Caney Cemetery. Open viewing will be held on Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; and Sunday, April 25, from 1-6 p.m.; at Hart Funeral Home Chapel. Services have been entrusted to Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
Katie M. Price was born on Friday, Oct. 18, 1918, in Adair County, the daughter of William Marion "Bill" Pounds and Alice Unger. Katie married Gilbert Lee William "Buck" Jones on Dec. 2, 1938, in Welling. Together they raised six children. She later married George Washington "Bud" Price on April 30, 1986, in Tahlequah, enjoying their later years together.
Katie was of the Baptist faith and lived most all of her life in the Cherokee County area. She was a homemaker, and always enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, and listening to country music. She had a unique sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She was a one of a kind and will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Katie passed from this life on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the age of 91.
Katie is preceded in death by her mother and father, stepfather John Gregory, husband Buck Jones and second husband Bud Price, daughter Betty Lou Martin, son-in-law Jack Martin, son Tommy Jones and daughter-in-law Diane Jones, daughter-in-law Rhonda Jones, great-grandson Will Kissinger, stepson Bill Price, and her brothers and sisters, Bessie Camel, Lula Gregory, Maggie Scott, Myrtle Johnson, Merriet Pounds, and Leonard Pounds.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Judy Wells and Reba Spears and husband Frank, and her son Buster Jones, all of Tahlequah; a son, Johnny Jones of Welling; as well as 14 grandchildren, Billy Johnson, Michael Spears, Tracy Kimble, Joann Blakley, Joanie Kissinger, Tony Woodward, Susie Varnon, Cyndi Galyean, Tina Etherton, Johnny Feathers, Dannie Martin, Davie Martin, Bryan Jones, and Bucky Jones. Her three step-grandchildren include Jackie Price, Brandi Maxwell, and Jeremy Price. She is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and three step great-grandchildren.
