
Wilma Lee Mears (Wilson) of Bokchito, Oklahoma passed away on June 27, 2026, in Denison, Texas, at the age of 87.
She was born on September 13, 1938, in Farris, Oklahoma, to William Wilson and Bertha Thurman (Price), both of whom preceded her in death. Wilma lived a life marked by kindness, warmth, and devotion to the people she loved. She was a loving, kind, and friendly woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to her family and all who knew her.
Wilma worked in the cafeteria at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Durant, Oklahoma, where she worked for 35 years. Her steady dedication and caring spirit were evident in the way she approached her work and in the relationships she built along the way. She was the type of person who made others feel welcome, and her gentle nature left a lasting impression on those around her.
One of Wilma’s favorite pastimes was working in the yard and gardening. She found happiness in caring for her plants and spending time outdoors, where she could nurture beauty and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Her love for gardening reflected the patience and tenderness that defined so much of who she was.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Mears; her granddaughter, Amanda Whorton; her granddaughter, Jennifer Bassett; and her granddaughter, Tiffany Reynolds. She is also preceded in death by her parents, William Wilson and Bertha Thurman (Price). Her memory will continue to be cherished by those who loved her and by those whose lives were touched by her steady, loving presence.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Reynolds and his wife Christine of The Philippines; her daughter, Judy McIntire of Bennington, Oklahoma; her daughter, Linda Whorton and her husband Richard of Caddo, Oklahoma; her son, Ricky Reynolds of Bennington, Oklahoma; her son, Randy Reynolds and his wife June of Bennington, Oklahoma; her son, Michael Pugh of Bennington, Oklahoma; her son, Mitchell Reynolds and his wife Toni of Bokchito, Oklahoma; and her son, Brad Reynolds and his wife Pam of Bokchito, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her sister, Darlene Dawson.
Wilma leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever treasure her memory, including her grandchildren Misty, Brandy, Josh, TJ, Chance, Gabrielle, Gabriel, Nolan, Kayla, Lacy, Chris, Cassie, Sierra, and Piper. She also leaves behind 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom brought her great pride and happiness. Her family was a source of deep joy in her life, and she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to each generation.
Wilma Lee Mears will be remembered for her gentle heart, her faithful work, and the love she shared throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she formed, and the many lives she touched with her kindness.
Family hour will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will immediately follow in the Caney Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Reynolds, Nolan Pugh, Aaron Wayne Bassett, TJ Reynolds, Chance Dobbins, Jeremy Renfro. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Reynolds, Colin James Bassett, and Gabriel Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Caddo Educational Program in memory of Amanda and Jennifer.
