Born on Jan. 3, 1932, in the Wolf Springs Community of Cherokee County, Walter was the son of William Andrew and Alice (White) Bolding. He went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 18, 2011.

He married Minnie Marie (Howell), of Nicut, on Sept. 10, 1955. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, and served from November 1956 until November 1957. Following his discharge, he returned to Tahlequah, where he was a member of the Tahlequah Fire Department until his retirement. He served as Tahlequah's chief of police from 1968 until 1979. Following retirement from the police department, he worked as maintenance director of the Tahlequah Methodist Home until 1985.

Before retirement, his hobbies were trading horses and rodeos. Following retirement, he enjoyed watching PBR bull riding and baseball. He was happiest when spending time with his great-grandsons.

Preceding him in death are his parents; two sisters, Geneva and Thelma; and two brothers, William "Son," and Willard Bolding.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Minnie; daughter Teresa Lowe and husband Kerry, of Stigler; granddaughter Monica Phillips and husband John, of Park Hill; and two great-grandsons, Brayden and Bo, also of Park Hill; four siblings, Louise Rooks, Barbara Howe, Wanda Bolding, and Don Bolding, all of Tahlequah; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
