Graveside service for Virginia Maude Satterwhite, 92, of Chickasha, will
be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2003, at the Woodford
Cemetery, Woodford, Oklahoma. Reverend Ken Campbell of the First
Southern Baptist Church of Springer, Oklahoma will be officiating.
Virginia Maude Satterwhite was born December 14, 1920, in Goforth, Texas, the daughter of Leon O. and Lizzie Mae [Lock] Miller, and died November 17, 2003, in Pryor, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Satterwhite was a graduate of Southwestern State Teachers College in San Marcos, Texas with a degree in Education. She and Minor S. Satterwhite were married November 4, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas. She was a homemaker while they lived in west Texas and New Mexico during the oilfield boom. Following her husband's service in the Air Force during World War II, they moved to Chickasha in 1945. They owned and operated the Satterwhite Water Well Drilling and Pump Service in Chickasha from 1956 until their retirement in 1981. They had been married 56 years when Minor passed away in 1990. Mrs. Satterwhite was a member of the College Heights Baptist Church and also a member of the Chickasha Order of the Eastern Star where she served several years as a state officer and District Deputy. She and Mr. Satterwhite were Past Matron and Past Patron of the local chapter in addition to filling a number of offices.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, 1 brother, Leon Miller, I sister, May Patterson.
Survivors include: 1 daughter and her husband: Virginia and Windell Jones of Locust Grove, OK; 1 granddaughter and her husband: Vicky and Bobby Johnston of Oklahoma City; 1 grandson and his wife: Rick and Debbie Jones of Dallas, TX; 2 great grandsons: Tony Johnston and wife, Staci, of Glenpool, OK, Rhett Jones of Dallas, TX; 3 great great grandchildren: Lane, Casidee and Seth; several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in the Woodford Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
