William Folsom "Bill" Carlyle, 77, of Marietta, OK passed from this life on September 22, 2022, in Homburg, Germany. He was born on September 23, 1944, in San Antonio, TX, the son of William James and Rosalie (Folsom) Carlyle.
 
Bill grew up in Marietta and graduated from Marietta High School in 1962. He received a full football scholarship from the University of Oklahoma and played under Coach Bud Wilkinson. He graduated with a history degree and attended law school for a year. He also enjoyed serving as a student coach. After graduating he joined the U.S. Army. He was transferred to Germany where he met his wife, Ursula. They were married in Marietta on October 11, 1969. Bill served during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged.
 
Bill's family started the Carlyle Chevrolet dealership in 1949. In the mid 70s he took ownership of it. He also spent time raising Brangus cattle. Bill always enjoyed his customers at the dealership, but also liked spending time outside working cattle. But his Saturdays belonged to the Oklahoma Sooners attending every football game, home or away. Bill also attended every football or basketball game of his children and his grandson's baseball games.
 
Left behind to cherish his legacy is his wife of 52 years, Ursula Carlyle of the home; daughters, Daniela S. Carlyle of Marietta, Christine U. Chamberlain and husband Cory of Novato, CA, and Courtney Benson of Wylie, TX; sister, Rosemary Carlyle of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Aca Follis, Damien Mantzke, Alexandria Leidy, Tristan Mantzke, Spencer Leidy, Hayden Carlyle, Illyria Chamberlain, and Finn Chamberlain; and numerous great-grandchildren.
 
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael F. Carlyle; and daughter, Patricia Ine Carlyle.
 
Honorary bearers are Damien M. Mantzke, Tristan J. Mantzke, Aca D. Follis, Hans Wilhelm, and Hayden Carlyle.
 
Services to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow with military honors at the Seaman First Class Billy Turner Oklahoma State Veterans Cemetery in Ardmore, OK under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Marietta.
