Our hearts are heavy as we share the news of the passing of Michael LaVern Anderson, 78, of Marietta. He passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. A Vietnam Veteran, he was also a loved son, brother, husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend who touched the hearts and lives of many people.

Michael was born January 13, 1947, in Moline, Illinois. On August 13, 1988, he married Pam Anderson, his wife of 37 years, at Jenny Lind Chapel in Andover, Illinois.

Mike grew up in Matherville, Illinois and graduated from Sherrard High School in 1965. In November of 1965, he received his draft notice for the military and served our country proudly from June 22, 1966, to June 21, 1968. After his military service, he graduated from the Midwest Horseshoeing School. He worked at Gale Products in Galesburg, W.J. Nelson & Sons, Inc. in Ophiem, and after 28 years, retired from Growmark Distribution Center in Alpha, Illinois. After retirement he and Pam moved to Hennepin. In 2018 they built a home near Marietta. There they joined the Enville Community Church where Mike soon after gave his heart to the Lord.

Mike enjoyed riding and showing horses with Pam, rebuilding old trucks, and working on projects with his kids and grandkids. He also was a rodeo pick-up man for three stock contractors in the Midwest. He enjoyed hunting coon and deer. His passions were keeping his property neat and tidy, sweeping the floor of his shop and barns, and organizing his tools, bolts and screws. He also loved spending time with family and friends and volunteering with his church and local community. He enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus for the kids at church and was always willing to help on Veterans Day to assist his fellow veterans.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother Maxine and father LaVern (Pete) Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Pam; sons Chad (Jennifer) and Gabe (Shari); daughter Amy (Dave); brother Jerry; sister Colleen (Dave); grandchildren Chever, Abigail, Shaelee, Ethan, and Eli; one great-granddaughter Nevaeh and a great-grandson on the way; and his beloved dogs Jordan and Rudy.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 3 at the Enville Community Church. Mike will then have a military escort to the Seaman First Class Billy Turner Ardmore Veterans Cemetery for a Military Memorial Service at 12:15 p.m. Lunch will be provided for family and friends at the Enville Community New Life Center after the military service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be mailed to Oklahoma State Veterans Cemetery, 1555 Myall Road, Ardmore, OK 73401.
