Funeral Services for Mrs. Sue (McGuire) Cooper, 76, of Ardmore, Oklahoma will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 2:00 p. m. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Ardmore with Mr. Michael Haggard officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore.  Mrs. Cooper passed away on October 21, 2018 at her home.

Sue was born on March 7, 1942 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma to Robert Boyd McGuire and Nona D. (McCurdy) McGuire.  She was born in a log cabin until they built their home at the home place.  She lived in Wapanucka till she married Ralph Leroy Cooper and began her family.  Sue was widowed very early in her marriage, as Roy passed away at the age of 27.

Having four small children, Sue started working and continued to work for over 50 years, she believed in a good work ethic.  When not working at IHOP, she also volunteered twice a week for over 10 years at KOURTNEY’S KLOSET in memory of her granddaughter, Kourtney Cargal.  She was a manager for several years in various restaurants. She had been at IHOP in Ardmore since its opening, where she loved working the weekend morning’s to see her usual customers that brightened her day.  She spoke of them often.

She had been on several cruises, trips to New Orleans, San Antonio, Port Aransas, Grand Caymans, Cozumel, Jamaica where she liked going to and seeing the sights.  Sue loved working daily in her beautiful flower filled yard.  Her grandson, Kody said it was an explosion of flowers.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Nona and Boyd McGuire of Wapanucka, her husband, Ralph Leroy Cooper of Wapanucka, her son, Larry Don Cooper of Ardmore, her granddaughters, Kourtney Lynn Brackett-Cargal and Kimberly Sue Ford, both of Ardmore, two brothers, Jack East of Wapanucka, and Robert McGuire and his wife Becky of Dallas, Texas, her sister, Charlene Lykins and several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her favorite uncle, Ed McGuire.

She is survived by her children, Roy Cooper of Ardmore, Luann Killingsworth of Rock Port, Texas, and Lorri and Monty Boatright of Ardmore; 9 grandkids; 13 great-grandkids and one on the way; brothers, Boyd McGuire, Jr. and wife Linda of Wapanucka and Kenneth McGuire of Durant, Oklahoma; many nieces, cousins and friends and her pups, Angus, Boss and Buster.

The casket will be closed at her request. Sue asked if she could be buried by her granddaughters, Kourtney and Kimberly (because it’s so peaceful) at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Brent Cargal, Waylon Hamilton, Kody Boatright, Andy Ayala, Alfred Peoples and Jeremiah Haggard.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Cooper's name to Kourtney's Kloset or the Ardmore Animal Shelter.
