Services for Max “Peanut” Clark, 71, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 6 at the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel, Ardmore, with Rev. David Brantley officiating.
Interment followed in the McAlister Cemetery.
Born February 25, 1940, at Rubottom, the son of Bill and Maxine Clark, he died Wednesday, August 3, 2011.
Peanut served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Arizona. He married the love of his life and bride of 48 years, Jane, on February 9, 1963. The newlyweds lived in Oklahoma City for one and a half years before moving to Marietta. From there they moved to Healdton, where Peanut worked for Haliburton for nine years. In 1973, they moved to Ardmore, where he worked for Bell Refinery until he retired in 1997. While in Ardmore, he pastored two churches, McAlister and the Ardmore Indian. After retirement the moved to Enos, where he pastored the Enos Baptist Church for three years. He had a lifetime love for fishing and loved fishing with his family and friends. Taking his grandchildren to the lake on his “gator” was one of his greatest joys. He was a friend to many and loved helping people. His last message to friends and family was to love the Lord and He will see you through.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, William Clark, an infant son and an infant daughter.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jane of the home; one son, Donnie Clark and his wife, Charla of Ardmore; two daughters, Donna Harrison and husband Randy of Oklahoma City, and Lou Ann Brown and husband, Josh of Ardmore; ten grandchildren, Joan, Jillian and Jamie Clark, all of Ardmore, Dustin Burrows of Portales, New Mexico, D’Arcy Neff and husband, Brandon of Spencer, Derek Tynes of Ringling, R.J. and A.J. Harrison of Oklahoma City, Alexis and Trever Brown of Ardmore; two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Cory Neff of Spencer; a brother, Billy Joe Clark of Lone Grove; three sisters, Ann Goldsmith of Eastman, Georgiann Smith of Loco, and Barbara Hoipkemier of Fort Worth, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Meadows, Charles Campbell, Johnny Cox, Jerry Deweese, Cody Miller and Bert Tynes. Honorary bearers were J.D. Bridgeman, J.C. Harris, Jimmy Davis, Tony McCall, Leon Murray and Greg Milford.
