(permission granted)

On Wednesday evening, June 15, 2022, the world lost a hardworking and dedicated community man. Holley “Charles” Campbell, 75, of Overbrook, OK passed away at his home surrounded by family.  He was born October 21, 1946, in Abner, OK, the son of Onema (McNeely) and Holley Campbell.

Charles was a lifelong Love County resident. He graduated from Greenville High School with the Class of 1965. Charles married the love of his life, Barbara Reed on January 20, 1967, in Leon, OK. He was a member of the Marsden Baptist Church since 1967 and served as a Deacon since 1972. He worked for Michelin and retired after 30 years.

Charles had a passion for helping others and serving his community. He was a firefighter for the Criner Hills Volunteer Fire Department (CHVFD) since 1983 and has served as the Chief since 1985. Charles recently retired after 39 years of service. He was also a member of the Murray County Antique Tractor & Implement Association. When he wasn’t responding to an emergency, he was going to Antique Tractor Shows. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. Charles was a very sociable guy and loved to talk and visit with family and friends. Although he had many interests, nothing beat going to watch his grandkids ball games. He was their biggest fan.

Those left to cherish his memory and honor his service include his bride of 55 years, Barbara Campbell of the home; son, Michael Campbell and wife Andrea of Overbrook; daughters, Charla Clark and husband Donnie and Alicia Henry and husband Claude all of Ardmore, OK; brother, Bobby Campbell of Overbrook; sisters, Dorthy Reed and Wanda Reed both of Overbrook; sister-in-law, Debra Dollar and husband Greg of Ardmore; grandchildren, Joan Clark, Jillian Clark, Jamie Clark, Tyler Campbell, Michayla Campbell, Natalie Gilmartin and Brooks Henry.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by mother and father-in-law, Willie and Alvie Reed; niece, Angela Welch; brother-in-law, John Reed; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services for Charles will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta with Pastor Claud Williams officiating.

Interment will follow in the McAlister Cemetery in Overbrook under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
