Carl Vernon Gragg, 74, peacefully left this life surrounded by his brothers and sisters in arms, Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Ardmore Veteran’s Center.
 
Funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Pastor Brett Alberda officiating and Pastor Shane Norton assisting. Interment will follow at the Berwyn Cemetery in Gene Autry, OK under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
 
Carl was born July 5, 1947, in McAlester, OK to Jeannetta (Browne) and C.V. Gragg, Jr. He grew up in Crowder, OK and was a 1965 graduate of Crowder High School. Carl married the love of his life, Ella Carlene Woodward on March 9, 1967 in Crowder. He is a longtime area resident. Carl joined the United States Air Force on November 6, 1968 and was honorably discharged on September 29, 1974.
 
Carl was a hardworking family man. He worked as an electrician for Michelin and retired in 2003 after 30 years. He managed several rental properties and loved ranching and working his cattle. Carl wasn’t one to sit idle. He was always fixing things around the house or piddling in his shop. He could fix anything with his collection of tools. Later in life, he did enjoy watching westerns. Carl was a dedicated church and community member. He served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church and Eastside Baptist Church. He also served on the Building Committee for the New Fellowship Hall at Eastside. Carl assisted in maintaining the church’s facilities and he also cared for widows by doing all kinds of needed work or repairs to their homes. He was very generous with his time and knowledge.
 
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chad V. Gragg; and sister, Sharon Hayes.
 
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Carlene Gragg of the home; son, Heath Gragg and wife Jessica of Haslet, TX; daughters-in-law, Jalea Gragg of Dallas, TX and Karen Wallace and husband Billy of Ardmore, OK; brother, Ronald Gragg and wife Concetta of Crowder, OK; brother-in-law, Jewell Hayes of Sharpsburg, GA; and grandchildren, Karlie Gragg, Caleb Gragg, and Gracie Gragg.
 
Casket bearers are Ty Runyan, Jansen Bazzera, Brian Cothran, Cody Cothran, Trevor Raper and Keith Stewart. Honorary bearers are Paul Riley, the Tuesday Morning Grandpa’s, the First Baptist Men’s Sunday School Class, and the Cross and Crown Men’s Ministry.
 
Memorial contributions can be made to the Cross and Crown Men’s Ministry.
