Jimmie Dee Leatherwood was born September 17, 1927 to Jessie Burrell and Katie Carrie (Sullins) Leatherwood, and died April 9, 2002 at the age of 74.

His stepmother was Leola Leatherwood.
He married Elsa Rae Rector in July 1948. The family moved to the Yukon area in 1951, coming from Western Oklahoma. They were "Winter Texans" spending 16 winter seasons there with many friends. Leatherwood farmed and raised cattle. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge since 1957.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Yanda and Son Chapel in Yukon, under the direction of the Yanda and Son Funeral Home.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie, Katie, and Leola; sister Nina Walker; and brother J. B. Leatherwood.

He is survived by his wife Elsa; daughter Jennell Shults and husband Leon of Duncan, Okla.; son Jimmie Jr. (Bud) Leatherwood and wife Lita of Yukon; daugher Nona Maxwell and husband Don of Yukon; and son Cliff Leatherwood of Yukon; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Butch and Ronnie Leatherwood.
