Clyde Melvin McDaniel was born March 16, 1935 in Cox City Oklahoma. He was
called to his eternal home on December 20 after a long and courageous battle
with cancer. Clyde moved to Oklahoma City when he was a sophomore and graduated Southeast
High school in 1953. Joining the Air Force in June 1954, he completed basic
training in San Antonio and was stationed in various bases in the U.S. and
in Korea. After completing his service, Clyde met his wife-to-be, Alberta
Kay Wiedemann in Mustang. They were married in 1959 in El Reno and purchased
a home in Oklahoma City. He attended Oklahoma City University and graduated
with a Bachelor of Industrial Arts in Electronics. After graduation, he
worked at FAA, GE, and Honeywell in Oklahoma City. He then started his sales
career moving to Tulsa and working for Motorola. From there Clyde and family
moved to Bartlesville and back to Oklahoma City ending his career in sales
with AT&T. After retirement, Clyde enjoyed working with his hands, making and fixing
things. He especially enjoyed making canes and bird houses. When he was no
longer able to work in his shop, he began making quilts to keep his mind
occupied while dealing with his cancer. He was a long-time member of
Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Bethany, OK. He enjoyed OU sports and
attended many basketball and football games.Clyde’s pride and joy were his family, his wife, Alberta (Kay); his
daughter, Karen Johnson and husband Steven, Edmond, OK; and his son, Dean
McDaniel and wife Stacey, Ashville, NC. He had one granddaughter he adored,
Sydney Johnson, Dallas, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Corbia and Fairy McDaniel and an
infant baby sister, Vela.
He is survived by his brothers, Reaford McDaniel,
Mustang, Harold McDaniel and wife Ruth Ann, Chickasha, and James McDaniel
and wife Pat, Yukon.
A graveside service was held on December 21 at Red Hill cemetery near
Mustang. A service to celebrate Clyde’s life will be held at Lutheran Church
of our Savior, January 7 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to Lutheran Church of our Savior or the charity of your choice.
