Lonny Dean Tech was born in Okarche on Sept. 1, 1970, to Bill R. and Carol Jean (Schroder) Tech.

He passed away on July 12, 2022, in Calumet, at the age of 51.

Lonny grew up in the Calumet area and lived and worked there all his life. He worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, was a farmer, a rancher, worked at Eischen’s Bar for 14 years, worked at Temtrol in Okarche for 14-plus years and was an excellent chef.

He really liked to experiment with his cooking, often baking from scratch and putting his own spin on his dishes.

Lonny was always happy to be cooking, grilling or baking for his family.

During his time as a mail carrier, he helped out the older folks on his route when needed, put boxes of chocolates in the mailboxes for the widows on Valentine’s Day and used to mark flyers and catalogs with things that he liked, saying, “Your mailman would really enjoy this.”

Lonny enjoyed the old westerns with John Wayne and cooking shows.

He did enjoy traveling, always had a good time, always took his faithful companion Dixie with him.

Lonny’s greatest love was his son, Logan, and his family was everything to him.

He spent the last years of his father’s life, Bill Tech, taking care of him until his passing.

He enjoyed rides with Dixie and anyone who was willing to load up and go, looking at sunsets and sharing his pictures. He always checked on his neighbors and made sure to make others happy with his random surprise acts of kindness.

Survivors include his son Logan Tech of Calumet; mother Carol Koehn and husband Darrel of Yukon; sister Lindy Renbarger and husband Steve of Calumet; special friend Susie Reed of Calumet; nieces Meghan Renbarger and fiancé Macy Mitchell (address varies due to travel nursing), Morgan Jech and husband Kyle of Calumet; nephew Brody Renbarger of Calumet; his dog, faithful companion and closest friend, Dixie; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Lonny was preceded in death by his father, Bill R. Tech.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, at Calumet First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Moore and Rev. Mary Irby officiating.
