Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13,
2012, in the Wesley United Methodist Church in El Reno, with interment to follow
at Beecham Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, El Reno, OK.
Thelma Naomi (Parker)
Heckes , of El Reno, passed away March
9, 2012, at the age of 98. She was born February 24, 1914, to Wesley and Ina
(Beecham) Parker in Canadian County on the Beecham Homestead. She attended
school at Pleasant Home School in Canadian County.
Thelma and Carl F.
Heckes were married in October 1936
and lived and farmed the Canadian County area. They moved to El Reno in 1954 and
continued to farm. She was a homemaker, a fantastic pie maker and loved
quilting. Thelma was an active
member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for many years and Wesley United
Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a member of the Wesley Quilters, the
Wesley United Methodist Women, and the Wesley Berean Sunday School Class.
Her husband, Carl, in 1979; her parents; a brother, Lester Parker; and a sister, Almira Shaw, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Irvin (Wes) Heckes and wife, Juanita, Yukon, OK; one daughter, Vonda Rice and husband, Jim, of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren: Wade Heckes and wife Tracy of Norman, OK; Jay Rice and wife Jang of Oklahoma City, OK; and Julie Rice of Edmond, OK; three great-grandchildren, Robin Heckes , and Abigail and Audrey Rice. Two sisters: Donna Yowell, Oklahoma City, OK; and Lillian Hulbert and husband Charles of Broken Arrow, OK; many family members and a host of loving friends, also survive her.
The family suggests memorials be made to: Wesley United Methodist Church, 101 South Barker, El Reno, OK 73036; or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 2904 E. 150th, El Reno, OK 73036.
