© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, August 18, 1948 July 28, 1869 ~ August 14, 1948 J.J. Page, 89er, Dies Saturday; Rites 2:30 Tuesday Near Colony John J. Page, 81, who homesteaded near Mishek in Oklahoma county in 1889, died at his home near Colony Saturday. He had been seriously ill since the first of the year. Born in Alabama July 28, 1867, Page pioneered in the new country and helped develop the county until 1917 when he moved to his farm near Colony. His homestead in Oklahoma county was near that of the late Dan Peery, well known Carnegie man. Besides his farming interests, Page was known as a thresherman in the old days of the steam outfits. Services were at 2:30 Tuesday in the Fairview church northeast of Colony and burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Emma Page, Colony; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Foley, Hot Springs, Ark., and two sons, Clyde Page, Yampa, Colo., and Gene Page, Colony. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday,November 10, 1965 May 27, 1875 ~ November 3, 1965 Mother Of Local Doctor Dies At Weatherford Home Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Page, mother of Dr. C.B. Sullivan, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Fairview church south of Hydro with Rev. Jess Haney, a Methodist minister officiating. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery. Mrs. Page, 90, died Wednesday night, November 3, in a Weatherford nursing home. She was born near Hannibal, Mo., May 27, 1875, where she spent her early childhood. In 1890 she came to Oklahoma with her parents settling near Norman. She was married to Jasper Daniel Sullivan at Norman in 1892. They resided in several places in Central Oklahoma before Mr. Sullivan died in 1901. She resided in Norman and in 1906 was married to John Jeter Page of Norman. Page was an '89'er and had homesteaded a farm which is now occupied by Tinker AFB. They resided on this farm until moving to near Colony in 1919. Page died August 14, 1948. Mrs. Page came to Carnegie and lived near her son, Dr. Sullivan, for sometime. She later moved to Geary where she lived 12 years. She had been in failing health the past seven months and had been in a Weatherford nursing home the past six. She became a member of the Christian church at an early age. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Rollins of Geary and Mrs. Peggy Foley of Hot Springs, Ark.; three sons, Dr. Sullivan, Carnegie, Gene Page, Colony, and Clyde Page of Yampa, Colo.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 1897 by one son, Charlie Sullivan, two years old. |
