© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, October 3, 1956 June 20, 1871 ~ October 2, 1956 Mrs. Anna Klein, Colony Pioneer, Dies Here Tuesday Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Klein, pioneer resident of the Colony community, will be held View church, northeast of Colony. Mrs. Klein, who had been making her home with a daughter, Mrs. George Lasley, Eakly, had been ill for about seven weeks. She became critically ill after suffering a stroke Thursday and was brought to the Carnegie hospital Friday morning. Death came early Tuesday morning. Anna Christina Broderson was born June 20, 1871 at Florence, Mo., and was married to John C. Klein in 1892. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1900 and settled near Okarche, then moved to the homestead near Colony in 1902 where the couple resided for many years. Her husband died in 1938. Mrs. Klein continued to live on the farm for awhile but later moved to Weatherford. About four years ago she went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Lasley. Mrs. Klein and her family attended church regularly, which first met in the homes and later at the Fair View church. They united with the Evangelical church at North Pleasant Valley and Mrs. Klein later transferred her membership to Weatherford where she was a faithful member. Four sons and two daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Klein. One son, Albert, died in childhood. Survivors include: three sons, Arthur, Henry and Roy, all of Colony; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Taylor of Colony, and Mrs. Lasley of Eakly; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two brother, Henry Broderson of Phoenix, and Albert T. Broderson of El Reno. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, April 12, 1972 April 3, 1896 ~ April 11, 1972 Thomas Arthur Klein moved with his parents to Okarche, OK in 1899. In 1901, the family moved to Colony, where Thomas Arthur continued to live until his death. He attended school at Prairie Home school. He married Gladys Hedrick at Cordell on July 18, 1922. He was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Klein was the father of Mrs. Paul Arnold, Albert Klein; Wayne Klein; Mrs. Eugene Avants and Mrs. Bill Kellogg; Brother of Henry Klein, Roy Klein, Freda Klein Taylor and Alma Klein Lasley. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, April 6, 1994 April 13, 1909 ~ April 1, 1994 Roy Fredrick Klein was born April 13, 1909 near Colony, OK and died Friday, April 1, 1994. He was raised in the Colony area, attended the Prairie Home Rural School, and then began farming. He married Reta Smith in Cordell, OK on February 25, 1930 and they lived NE of Colony, OK. She preceded him in death in 1977. He married Velva Draper in Perry, OK on November 18, 1978. She also preceded him in death in 1988. Roy farmed until his retirement in 1993, having farmed 63 years. He was survived by 2 daughters, Corrine Visor of Augusta, KS; Sharron Shipp of Colony, OK; one sister Alma Lasley of Eakly, OK; one step-daughter, Willa Mae Blankenship of Norman, OK; one step-son, Laverne Draper of Texas, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John Christian and Anna C. [Brodersen] Klein, two wives, two brothers, Arthur and Henry; one sister, Freda; and one step-daughter, Roberta Wood. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, November 9, 1977 September 4, 1913 ~ October 30, 1977 Mrs. Roy Klein Of Colony Dies Mrs. Roy [Reta] Klein, 64, of Colony died Sunday, October 30, in Oklahoma City. She was born September 4, 1913, at Stigler and moved to Weatherford with her parents in 1928. She was married to Roy F. Klein on February 26, 1930, at Cordell. She had lived in Colony since her marriage except for a seven-month period spent in California. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Colony. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, in the Colony Baptist Church with Rev. Truman Smith officiating. Burial was in the Poage cemetery northeast of Colony. Survivors include her husband, Roy, of Colony; two daughters, Mrs. Olen Visor of Augusta, Kan., and Mrs. Tommy Shipp of Colony; four sisters, Mrs. Burnis White, Mrs. Elmore Brewer, Mrs. John Sherar and Mrs. Roy Brown, all of Merced, Calif.; three brothers, Herschel Smith of Weatherford, Lorance of Bakersfield, Calif., and S.V. of San Jose, Calif.; and four grandchildren. |
