© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, February 27, 1974 February 10, 1903 ~ February 17, 1974 Rites Held For Colony Native Graveside services for Chester Elmer Crawford, 71, of Weatherford, a native of Colony, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 18, at the Fairview cemetery, south of Hydro. Rev. Jack Roth officiated. Crawford died Sunday, February 17, in a Weatherford hospital. Born February 10, 1903 at Colony, Crawford had resided in the Colony and Weatherford areas his entire life. He had been in failing health several months. Survivors include one brother, Fred R. Crawford of Cordell, formerly of Carnegie; two half-sisters, Mrs. Jennie Thomas and Mrs. Edna Patton, both of Crawfordsville, Ind., several nieces and nephews. |

Crawford Mrs. Fred (Lee) Crawford, day, May 23 at her home in Carnegie. She and her husband had operated the Rock Island Coffee Shop here for several years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the Church of the Nazarene with rev. James Weston, pastor of the Alfalfa Baptist church, and Rev. Bob Williams, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery near Colony. Willie Lee Flowers was born to Mr. and Mrs. Will Flowers at Pilot Point, Texas, on March 2, 1906. She moved from the Roosevelt community to the Hydro community in 1920. On July 23, 1925, she was married to Fred Crawford. They moved to Alfalfa in 1955 and to Carnegie in 1961. Two sons and one daughter were born to them. One son, Robert William Crawford, preceded her in death in 1931. She was a member of the Alfalfa Baptist church. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Merrill of Cordell; one son, George Wayne Crawford of San Francisco; four sisters, Mrs. Irene McClendon of Martinez, Calif., Mrs. Clara Ranta of San Francisco, Mrs. Turpsy Mershon of Clinton, and Mrs. Lucille Armitage of Bowering, Okla., and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Joe Bill Morris, Kenneth Kuykendall, Clarence Dutton, Sonny Harrison, Doyne Cook and Leon Turney. |
