© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, June 7, 1961 September 4, 1882 ~ May 22, 1961 Laura Belle Williams was born September 4, 1882, in Gentryville, Mo. She spent her girlhood in Missouri, then came to Oklahoma with her family in 1899. The family settled near Hennessey. She had one brother and eight sisters. The brother and six sisters preceded her in death. She was married to Oscar Brogan on July 7, 1900. To this union seven children were born. The Brogans had been residents of the Colony community since 1901. One daughter, Madge, died at the age of 15 years at Colony. Mrs. Brogan had been a member of the Presbyterian church for over 60 years. She is survived by her husband and son, Dale of the home at Colony; two other sons, Cecil of Reedley, Calif., and Leo of Lancaster, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Nina Bower, Tulsa, Mrs. Lela Rhoads, Ontario, Calif., and Mrs. Elva Cantrell, also of Ontario; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Becca Williams and Bess Wisdom of Salem, Oregon. |
