Chickasha, Oklahoma December 11, 2017 December 5, 1938 ~ December 11, 2017 Lloyd Lesley Smith,79, a resident of Anadarko, Oklahoma, passed away on December 11, 2017 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Lloyd was born to John and Hattie [Wilson] Smith on December 5, 1938 in Binger, Oklahoma. On June 12, 1971 he married Weeda Jo Barrow she preceded him in death on July 6, 2017. Lloyd served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. During his time with the army, Lloyd was involved in the "Bay of Pigs" in 1961. He once had the honor of shaking President John F. Kennedy's hand. He retired from the Caddo County Sheriff's department as Deputy Sheriff and from the BIA law enforcement as a Captain. In his over 40 years of law enforcement he also worked with the Anadarko Police Department. Lloyd retired from law enforcement in 2008. Lloyd attended the Baptist Church. He loved his country and the military as well as his fellow law enforcement officers. He loved his family, especially his grand-daughter Lila Smith. Lloyd is survived by: Son: Kevin Smith and wife Tonia of the home, Grandchildren: Lila Smith, Kylea Sankadota, Brandi Prince, Cody Sankadota, Galen Smith And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who will miss him dearly. Preceded in death by: his wife and parents. Born February 1, 1948 to Nannie M. and Jennings B. Smith, the eighth of nine children. Pat grew up in a large family filled with love. He attended school in Oklahoma City, graduating from Capitol Hill in May of 1967. In June, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Dixon. Pat served his country for two years in the Army, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He was a roofing contractor for the past 28 years, the proud owner of Pioneer Roofing. Pat was a man with a ready smile, a generous spirit and a love of life, who never lost an opportunity to tell those dear to him that he loved them very much. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and OU Sooners and loved to play moon. His smoked brisket and Jeff Davis pies were always favorites at family gatherings, but his greatest love was simply time spent in the company of his family. Preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Gerald “Son”, Wayne and Gary. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda; his two children, Staci Myers and husband Kenneth of Norman, and Bryan Smith of Bethany; sister Joyce Greene of Bethany, brother Jack Smith and wife Joyce of Anadarko, sister Betty Tidwell and husband Paul of Binger, sister Carolyn Johnson and husband Paul of Ft. Cobb, and brother Steve Smith and wife Biddie of Newcastle; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, 10am at Vondel Smith Funeral Home South, 6934 S Western Ave, Oklahoma City, 73139, with burial at the Binger Cemetery. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, July 24, 1974 August 9, 1951 ~ July 18, 1974 Binger Man Is Drowned Funeral services for Dale Smith, 22, a Binger drowning victim, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Binger Church of God, Rev. W.L. Mackey, pastor, officiated. Interment was in the Binger Cemetery. Smith drowned Thursday afternoon while swimming in Uncle Dan's Lake, four miles southwest of Binger, at Horse Shoe Canyon camp. Smith's body was recovered by the Anadarko firemen, in about eight feet of water 45 minutes after he went down. Authorities said Smith had apparently swam too far from the shore and was unable to swim back. It was not known if there were others swimming with Smith when he went under. Dale Smith was born August 9, 1952 in Lawton. He was a life-long resident of Binger and was a former employee of Sequoyah Carpet Mills in Anadarko. Survivors include his mother, Hattie Edge, of Binger; six brothers, Paul, Alvin, Darrell and Odis, Binger, Jackie of Carnegie, and Allan of Burkburnett, Texas; and four sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Beaver of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Louise Green of Kenie, Alaska, Nadine Edwards, Hutchison, Kansas and Mary Lou Skidmore of San Antonio, Texas. |
© Shawnee News Star Shawnee, Oklahoma January 22, 2006 March 20, 1975 ~ January 18, 2006 James Lewis Smith, 30, Edmond, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Service is 3 p.m. today at Oakdale Baptist Church in Eakly with the Rev. Eddie Reichert officiating. Burial will follow at the Binger Cemetery under the direction of Binger Funeral Home. He was born March 20, 1975, in Hobart to Kenneth and Sue Smith. He attended Hobart High School through the 11th grade and later earned a GED. He was a carpenter and had been employed at Wood Crafters in Oklahoma City. He loved his children very much and was a loving father, son, brother and friend. Family and friends nicknamed him "Chunky" and "Big Daddy Cane. He enjoyed fishing and playing jokes. He was country music fan and he and his brother, Cary, sang together on many occasions. He had accepted Christ as personal Savior and had been baptized. He will be great missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Smith. He is survived by his wife, Kari Smith of Oklahoma City; daughter, Lanee Wilson of Oklahoma City; son, Corbin Smith of the home; stepdaughter, Kyla Smith of the home; his mother and stepfather, Sue and Gerald Brooks of Lookeba; father Kenneth Smith of Blackwell; brothers, Steve Smith and his wife, Carla, of Macomb; Cary Smith and his wife, Kathy, of Moore; sisters, Sissy Hopper and husband, Buddy, of Lonewolf, Amy Smith of Nowata and Mary Smith; stepfather, Jim Sloan of Sentinel; grandfather, Robert Yocham of Mangum; uncle, Sonny Yocham of Mangum, and many other relatives and friends. |
