© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma September 9, 2002 February 16, 1913 ~ September 6, 2002 Funeral Service for Catherine May [Jukes] Ficklin, 89 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2002, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Murray Cemetery, Binger, Oklahoma. Mrs. Ficklin died Friday, September 6, 2002, in Chickasha. Catherine and her twin brother, Charles, were born in Pampa, Texas, on February 16, 1913, to Kate and James Juckes. At the age of 4, her family returned to Binger, Oklahoma. She attended Binger Schools where she was a member of the Binger Basketball team and was Valedictorian of her graduating class. In 1934 she married George M. Ficklin, a childhood family friend. They reared a family and were happily married for 62 years. In 1956 they moved from Binger to Chickasha. Catherine was a full-time wife and mother who found great pleasure in the caring for and nurturing of her family. As a lifelong church member, Catherine was a member of the Congregational Church of Binger where she taught Sunday School and later First Christian Church of Chickasha where she was a member CWF. She was also a member and leader in the IOOF/Rebekah Lodge and was actively involved in the Snapdragon Flower Club, Omega Study Club, and various other community organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents James and Kate Juckes, three brothers: Jim, Charles, her twin, and Tom Juckes. Survivors include: one son: James W. "Bill" and wife Jeannette Ficklin of Austin, Texas; two daughters: Mary Ficklin Pointer and husband Joe of Chickasha, Martha Ficklin of Giessen, Germany; three granddaughters: Linda Foster and husband Mike of Phoenix, AZ, Lori Ficklin of Austin, Texas, Jennifer Kahle of Hudson, WI; great grandchildren: Kristyn Foster and David Foster of Phoenix. Interment will be in the Murray Cemetery, Binger, Oklahoma, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Chickasha. |
