Minco, Oklahoma January 4, 1940 1923 ~ January 1940 This community was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Hubert Bobb. Hubert and his brother, Alery, were hunting Saturday afternoon, when Hubert slipped and fell into a creek of frozen water and caused his gun to discharge shooting himself in the forehead. The boys were some distance apart and when Alery missed Hubert he went to see about him and with the aid of Lawrence Malcom, who was fixing fence near by, pulled the boy from the water. Mrs. Malcom, who arrived in a car, rushed the boy to the doctor, where he was immediatly taken to the hospital but passed away at 5:30 that afternoon. Hubert was a member of an Indian family who had lived in this community for several years. He was a student of the Parrish Hill school. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Mrs. Julia Maddox and several brothers and sisters. Funeral Held at Binger Funeral services were held in Binger Saturday afternoon for Hubert Bobb, 17, member of am Indian family living five miles southwest of Minco, fatally wounded in what was beleived a hunting accident Friday afternoon. Binger, Oklahoma January 4, 1940 Hubert Fraanklin Bobb was killed at his home near Minco Friday when he lost his footing while out hunting, the gun discharder into his body. He was a student of Minco schools, and a son of Julia Edge Mattox, of this place. The Cox Funeral Home ambulance was called and the body was held here for burial at the Edge farm in the Mitchell community. |
Minco, Oklahoma February 1998 April 18, 1929 ~ February 25, 1998 Graveside services for Laverne Lee Bobb, 68, of Minco, will be held Saturday, February 28, 1998, at 10 a.m., in the Murray Cemetery, Binger, Oklahoma. Rev Ed Whitley, Assembly of God Church in Anadarko, will officiate. Laverne Lee Bobb was born April 18, 1929, in Oney, the son of James and Julia [Edge] Bobb, and died February 25, 1998, at his home in Minco He had been in the Minco and Anadarko communities all od his life. He was a member of the Praise Cathedral in Minco, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Foce fighting in World War II, was an operating engneer, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the operating Engineers Local #361, in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Hubert Bob and Raymond Leonard; and one sister, Annabelle Bobb. Survivors include one son, James Laverne Bobb of Oklahoma City; one step-son, William Houston Johnson Bob of Chickasha; one daughter, Annabelle Marguerite Bobb of Oklahoma City; four step-daughters, Donna Diane Bobb of Chickasha, Mary Faye Bobb Brewer of Seminole, Sharon Nannette Johnson Bobb of Verden, and Samantha Estelle Bobb Jay of Chickasha; one brother and sister-in-law, Ellery and Wanda Compron of Minco; one sister, Pauline Subia of Florida; and 12 grandchildren.
