© The Chickasha Express-Star 25 August 2003 Virginia [Crain] Willis Funeral services for Virginia Willis, age 80, of Verden, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Verden. Rev. Johnny Wray and Rev. David Bradley will officiate. Virginia was born the daughter of Steve Blake Crain and Maggie Mann Crain on June 12, 1923, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She died August 24, 2003, in Chickasha. In 1927, Virginia moved to Verden where she lived north of town on the family farm. She attended school in Verden and graduated from Verden High School. On January 31, 1946, she married Charlie Willis in Anadarko. They moved to Broston, Oklahoma, then returned to Verden four years later. Virginia was a member of the First Baptist Church of Verden for many years. For thirty-one of those years, she taught the preschool age Sunday School class. She was also on the Kitchen committee, nominating committee and Falls Creek committee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Willis, her parents, one brother, Harold Crain, and one great granddaughter, Cami Elaine Smith. Survivors include: son, Ricky Willis of Yukon; grandson and wife, Aaron and Misty Smith of Mustang; grandson and wife, Anthony and Devin Smith of Edmond; granddaughter and husband, Christy and Billy Kruchten of Oklahoma City; sister and husband, Dorothy and Doran McComas of Chickasha; sister, Patsy Roper of Weatherford; three great grandchildren, Kalli, Kristen and Conner Smith; numerous other family and friends. Interment will be in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko. Services are under the direction of the McRay's Verden Funeral Home. |
