© Steverson Funeral Home Anadarko, Oklahoma Sunday, April 13, 2008 Leo W. Wall ANADARKO - Funeral for Leo W. Wall, 80, Anadarko, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Anadarko with the Rev. Randy Robertson, pastor, officiating. Mr. Wall died Sunday, April 13, 2008, in an Oklahoma City hospital. Burial will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, under direction of Steverson Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 16, 1928, south of Anadarko to Arthur S. and Della Loudermilk Wall. He grew up south of Anadarko, attended Anadarko schools and graduated from Cyril High School in 1947. He worked in the oil field for a few years, then married Wanda Allison on Nov. 1, 1950. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, was an Airborne Ranger and served as a paratrooper in Korea and Japan. His unit was disbanded while he was in Japan and he chose to be assigned to the 45th Division. After his discharge, he and his wife moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he attended a technical school, specializing in electronics. They came back to Anadarko and he entered civil service at Fort Sill. In 1964, they moved to Lawton. He worked as radar specialist, teaching radar use, installation, and repair. His duties included foreign travel, as he was teaching in other countries. He was deputy director of the Target Acquisition Department when he retired in 1990, after 31 years of service. He was honored with a retirement party at the Pentagon, which included an awards ceremony, where he was presented with an Official Commendation for Exceptional Performance of Duty from the Department of the Army. He and his wife moved back to Anadarko in 2001 to be close to their family. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Randy and Kathy Wall, Eufala; and Doug and Yvonne Wall, Bermuda Dunes, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Rodney Raley, Anadarko; grandchildren: Jill Vega and Jessica England, both of Orlando, Fla.; Alaina Raley, Anadarko; and Christy Machinski and her husband, Ryon, of Bermuda Dunes; great-grandchildren: Anna Vega and Mazzy Machinski; two sisters: Thelma Hill, Fort Worth, Texas; and Joy Morgan, of Bethany; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters: Lonnie Garner, Lillie Stamper, Allie VanDoren, Hazel Gallaway, lla Martin, and Vivian Wall; and a brother, Cecil Wall. |
