Thursday, December 1, 2011 Shirley Sue [Goodman] Smith Shirley was born on November 7, 1933, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Clyde and Elvira Carolyn [Jensen] Goodman. She passed from this life on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Shirley grew up in Anadarko and graduated from Anadarko High School with the Class of 1951. She then went to Oklahoma State University. She came back to Anadarko, and worked at Fort Sill for a while. She and Charles Gene Smith were married in 1955 at the First Christian Church in Anadarko. She worked for her mother and step-father at the Anadarko Greenhouse until it was sold. She loved to play bingo. Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church of Anadarko. Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles, her parents and step-father, Jay Johnston. Survivors include her daughter, Sue Ann Bennett of Chickasha, her son Charles Allen "Chuck" Smith of Anadarko; 2 grandsons, Eddie Joe Brewer of Anadarko and J. D. Brewer of Mustang, and granddaughter Lesley S. Brewer of Chickasha, 4 great grandchildren, Haley Jo of Anadarko and Drayton, Steele and Slade of Chickasha; 2 cousins, Saundra Parton of Anadarko and Trenda Jensen; other relatives and many loving friends. Closed casket Funeral Services will be held at Steverson Funeral Chapel at 10 am Friday, December 2, with Hospice Chaplain John Cahill officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery. |
