Steverson Funeral Home 20 May 2004 Alyce Katherine [Tackett] McLane She was born 4-7-25 in Ok City to Richard and Dora [Dorley] Tackett. She died 6-15-2006 at her home east of Anadarko at the age of 81. Alyce graduated AHS with the Class of 1943. She worked Saturdays at the TG&Y while in school. She attended Okla College for Women in Chickasha before marrying Jack McLane, Jr., on December 25,1944 in Anadarko. They met at a talent contest they both entered when they were 12 years old; she gave a humorous reading and he sang. While Jack was in the US Army, she worked on base at Fort Hood. They came back to Caddo County, where Alyce made the transition from "City Girl" to "Farm Girl." She knew absolutely nothing about the farm until then. She learned quickly and devoted her life to her husband and children. She enjoyed playing cards, working crossword puzzles, and raising puppies. She loved to make people laugh and have a good time. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Verden since 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. Survivors include her husband Jack, of the rural Anadarko home; 3 daughters, Linda Marcum of Anadarko, Rebecca McLane of Ft Lauderdale, FL, and Ann Brower and husband Grant of Anadarko; one son, Jackson McLane and wife Lauri of Anadarko; 7 grandchildren, Lee Ann Marcum and Jerri Marcum, both of The Village, Jeffrey Brower and wife Afton of El Reno, Jenna Brower, Michael McLane, Skyler McLane and April McLane, all of Anadarko; other relatives, and many loving friends and good neighbors.
