Genevieve [Upchurch] Blakley
Genevieve Blakley, 75, of Cement, Oklahoma passed from this life on October 1, 2003, at Physician's Hospital, Anadarko.
Mrs. Blakley was born June 6, 1928, in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Arbulee and Rebecca (Dabney) Upchurch.
She graduated from Anadarko High School in 1946 and married George T. Blakley on February 2, 1946, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
She retired from Sentry Manufacturing Company in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She and her life long friend, Rachel Cossey ran a wedding cake catering service for many years. Genevieve was famous for her cakes and fried pies and made them for many school fund raisers. She worked at the Cement Fair for many years until her health prevented her from continuing.
Mrs. Blakley was a proud Democrat and very active in Caddo County politics. She attended the Cement Assembly of God Church and was baptized at the Assembly of God Church in Anadarko.
Survivors include her husband: George Blakley of the home; 2 sons: Gerald Blakley and wife, Joni of Cement, OK.; Gene Blakley of Lawton, OK.; 4 grandchildren: Tommy Blakley, Genie Blakley, Jared Blakley and Mandie Blakley; 4 great grandchildren; her mother: Rebecca Upchurch of Anadarko, OK.; 1 brother: Virgil Upchurch and wife, Sallie of Anadarko, OK.; 4 sister-in-laws; Evelyn Upchurch, Sue Upchurch, Virgie Lee Williams and Ivy Griffitts; 1 brother-in-law: Clyde Blakley.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her father, 2 sons, Tommy Blakley and Greg Blakley, 2 brothers, Donald Upchurch and Max Upchurch.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2003, in the Smith- Hackney Funeral Home Chapel, Anadarko, OK.
Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, Oklahoma under the direction of the Smith-Hackney Funeral Home, Anadarko, OK.
