Ninnekah, Oklahoma October 7, 2003 January 4, 1929 ~ October 16, 2003 Funeral services for Robert Dale Houx, Sr., 74, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2003, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Robert Dale Houx, Sr., was born January 4, 1929, in Cordell, Okla., and died on Thursday, October 16, 2003, in Ninnekah, Okla. Burial will be in Lookeba Cemetery, Lookeba, Okla., under the Direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. Ninnekah, Oklahoma October 20, 2003 January 4, 1929 ~ October 16, 2003 Funeral services for Robert Dale Houx, Sr., 74, were held Monday, October 20, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Johnny Wray from the First Baptist Church of Verden, Oklahoma, officiating. Robert Dale Houx, Sr., was born January 4, 1929, in Cordell, Oklahoma, son of Clifford and Edna [Mulligan] Houx. He died October 16, 2003, in Ninnekah. Bob grew up in Cordell. He entered the U.S. Army at age 17 during WW II in 1946. He served in the Philippines, Korea, France and Alaska. He retired as a Staff Sergeant in October of 1966. He married Brenda S. Judt in June of 1966, in Burkburnett, Texas. They lived in many places, including Houston, Texas, and Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, before coming to Chickasha in September of 1978. Bob's favorite things were reading, gardening, working in his carpentry shop, and being with his dogs. He was a member of the Eagle's Lodge #4070. He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, one sister, two grandsons, and one great granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Susan, of the home; one son, Robert D. Houx, Jr., of Houston, Texas; three daughters: Colleen Ellen Houx of Chickasha, Bobbie Lee and husband Paul Getz of Kutztown, Pennsylvania, and Deleene Marie and husband Larry Gomez, of Houston, Texas; two grandsons: David J. Simitz and wife, Jan of Pennsylvania, and Robert J. Houx, of Houston, Texas; and five great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Heartland Affiliate, Memorial Processing Center, P. O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS, 66606-1553, or the Chickasha Animal Shelter, 203 N. Genevieve, Chickasha, OK, 73018. Interment was in the Lookeba Cemetery, Lookeba, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
