Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, September 23, 1936 Henry Andreas Unruh Rites Held Sunday For Alden Pioneer Services were held at the Greenfield Mennonite church Monday afternoon for Henry Unruh, for many years a resident of the Alden community, who died at his home near there about six o'clock Friday morning and his death was wholly unexpected. Mr. Unruh settled on a homestead nine miles south of Carnegie in 1901 where the family lived 31 years, enduring the hardships of pioneer life. In 1932 he sold his farm and retired from work, securing a small tract three miles east of Alden where he and Mrs. Unruh made their home until his death. Henry A. Unruh was born December 1, 1864 in Poland, Russia and departed this life September 18, 1936, aged 71 years, 10 months and 18 days. At the age of 10 he emigrated with his parents to America, settling on a farm near Mound Ridge, Kans. in 1874. Here he was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite church in 1887 and remained a member until his death. On January 29, 1888 he was joined in marriage to Anna Nightengale. To this union were born 10 children, four sons and six daughters; one son and two daughters died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Unruh first first made their home near Mound Ridge, living there six years. Then they moved with their family to a farm near Pauls Valley, Okla. living there seven years before coming to Alden at the opening of Caddo country. He leaves to mourn his departure his companion with whom he had shared joy and sorrow for 48 years; his three sons and four daughters and their families, including 24 grandchildren. Also two brothers and four sisters and a host of other relatives and friends. |

Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, September 22, 1971 Dennis LaRoy Unruh Two Caddoans Die In Auto Accidents Two Caddo County residents were killed in seperate traffic accidents during the past weekend. Dennis Leroy Unruh, 18-year-old Carnegie freshman at Southwestern State College, was killed early Saturday morning when his car ran off SH 54, approxmiately 12 miles south of Weatherford. The highway patrol said Unruh's car was traveling at a moderate rate of speed when it ran off the rain-soaked highway and skidded sideways into a concrete culvert, then overturned. Funeral services for Unruh were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenfield Mennonite church, southeast of Carnegie with Rev. John Arn, Cordell, officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher Funeral Home. Dennis Unruh was born December 7, 1952 in Carnegie. He graduate from Fort Cobb High School this past May. While a High School student he was active in art, woodworking and Future Farmers of America club work. He was a member of the Greenfield Mennonite church. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Unruh; 3 brothers, Wilbur of Oklahoma City, Ronald of Weatherford, and Stanley of the home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Unruh, Carnegie and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dalke, Halsted, Kans. |

Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, January 5, 1955 Merrial Dean Unruh Services for Unruh Baby Are Sunday Afternoon Services were Sunday afternoon for Merriel Dean, 3-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Unruh of south of town. The little boy died in a Carnegie hospital at 8 o'clock Friday night shortly after being admitted. He had been ill and under treatment about a week but Friday became worse. Services was in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Koehn at 1:30 p.m. and in the Greenfield Mennonite church at 2:30 with the pastor, Rev. Jacob B. Krause, in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors besides his parents are two sisters, Delores and Brenda Ann; and two brothers, John Dale and Aldon Gene. Also his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Unruh and Mr. and Mrs. John C. Koehn, of the home community; and 10 uncles, and eight aunts as well as other relatives. |
December 2016 Stanley D. Unruh Stanley D. Unruh passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his home in Elgin, Oklahoma. He was born May 20, 1956 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Alvin and Ruby Dalke Unruh. Stanley worked over thirty-one years for Goodyear Industries in Lawton, Oklahoma before his retirement. He was a member of the Greenfield Mennonite Church and NRA. He was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Stanley is survived by one son: Skyler Dace Unruh and wife Jenniffer of Lawton, Oklahoma, one daughter: Ashley Dawn Unruh Socket and husband Nick of Bedford, Texas, four Grandchildren Zoe, Gavin, Zachary, and Caleb. , parents: Alvin & Ruby Unruh of Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma two Brothers: Wilbur Unruh and wife Glenda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma , Ron Unruh and wife Linda of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the mother of his children: Cindy Unruh of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Unruh and one niece Kandice Unruh. Services for Stanley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Greenfield Mennonite Church, Carnegie, Oklahoma with interment at the Greenfield Cemetery, Carnegie, Oklahoma. Visitation: Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie, Oklahoma. Greenfield Church and Greenfield Cemetery are located E 1400 Rd, N 2510 Rd, Carnegie, Oklahoma 73015. |
