© Chickasha Express~Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Sunday, April 9, 2006 September 5, 1939 ~ April 7, 2006 Carrol Ray Shook was born Sept. 5, 1939 in Gracemont to T. J. and Mildred [Brummell] Shook, and died Friday, April 7, at his home east of Gracemont, at age 66. He attended Star, Spring Creek and Gracemont schools. He spent 6 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, serving 6 months on active duty. He and the former Myrna Horn were married November 20, 1965 in Midwest City. He was a lifetime resident of Caddo County, and worked for John Connell Construction, W. E. Steelman Construction, and was road foreman for Caddo Country Commissioner District #2, and also farmed while working other jobs. He raised thoroughbred horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He & Myrna lived in the Cogar/Minco area for several years. He had been a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church since 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Theodore Holdge, and nephew Mark Holdge. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons; Wade Shook and wife Robin of Edmond; and Tony Shook and wife Stacey of Mustang; five grandchildren: Karol Ann Shook and Chazten Jenkins of Mustang; Dylan Shook, Kobi Kizarr and Lawson Stewart of Edmond; sister: Glenda Fay Holdge, and niece Lynita Sanders, both of Gracemont; and his right-hand-man and good friend, Daren Young of Gracemont. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Spring Creek Baptist Church. Interment: Gracemont Cemetery. Viewing: At steverson Funeral Home from 9 a.m. til 5 p.m. Saturday, from 1 p.m. til 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. til noon Monday.
