Eugene Alton Cooper
May 5, 1870 ~ October 29, 1947


Eugene Alton Cooper was born May 6, 1870 at Savannah, Tenn and died at his home in Geary on October 20, 1947, at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 24 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Flora E. Massey March 290, 1910, at Denton, Ark. To this union seven children were born, five of whom survive.

He was converted and joined the Denton Baptist church, Denton, Ark during the summer of 1912.

He and his family moved from Arkansas to Oklahoma in 1915. They have lived in and around Geary and Bridgeport since that time.

Due to ill health he retired from the farm in 1940 and moved to Geary.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs Flora Cooper, and five children: Mrs Berma Lough, Mr Thomas J. Cooper, Mr Elmo Cooper, Watonga, Mrs Joy Stevens, Mr Alton F. Cooper, also 14 grandchildren, four of whom live in Arkansas, and five great grandchiuldren, all of whom live in Arkansas.

Funeral service was held at First Baptist church of Geary with Dr Chesterfield Turner, the pastor, officiating Sunday, November 2 at 2:30 p.m.

Burial was made in the family lot at Bridgeport.

Cooper Funeral Held Thursday

Funeral services for Flora Elizabeth Cooper, 321 W 2nd Street, Watonga, were held at the Geary Baptist church Thursday with Rev Roy Bickford, pastor of Watonga Nazarene church, officiating.

Burial was in the Bridgeport cemetery under the direction of the Keller funeral home.

Born in Denton, Ark October 11, 1886, Mrs Cooper died November 10 here.

She was married to Eugene A. Cooper at Blackjack, Ark March 2, 1910, and came to Blaine County in 1929. She moved to Watinga in 1952, and was a member pf the First Baptist church here.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs James E. Lough, Wichita, Kans and Mrs Ray Stevens, Geary; three sons, Major E. Watonga, Alton, Kansas City, MO and Thomas J. Santa Monica, Calif; two sisters, Mrs Dora Henson and Mrs Anna Floyd; three brothers, Click Lee and Morris Massey and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her husband and a son and daughter preceded her in death.
